It was not an easy camera to handhold at anything much under 1/500th second. It has a severe case of "shutter shock" at all shutter speeds (though in those days we called it vibration). You could also buy all sorts of penta prism devices and viewfinders (both with and without light meters). It's default aspect ratio is 6圆 cm, but you can/could buy all sorts of backs for it. There were just too many of them made to be collectible. I don't think it has much resale value, either as usable photo gear or as a collectible. MF cameras don't command high prices so I'm not sure if it's worth selling but it would be fun to use and the pictures will be sharp, you can also scan the result for digital PP. The SQ-A was introduced in 1982, it's a 6圆 format on 120 film which is readily available on line and camera stores. The gear is cheap (ish) and you learn a lot. I'm a fan of the slower pace of this format. Bronica didn't stick around long enough to get seriously into this (and they're very expensive anywa y). Plenty around used - Sekonic do good, reasonably priced meters and they've been around a while so there are plenty on the market.ĭigital back - more problematic. You'll need a light meter (you could use a camera with a built-in meter to measure exposure, but it' a bit clunky). You might find 220 film too, twice the length (so 24 shots/roll), but much rarer.ĭevelopment labs should also be findable on the web (sorry, I'm in the UK, so can't be specific about Canada). 120 film will give you 12 shots per roll. Look for 120 roll film on the web - there are bound to be places selling it. Shot some weddings with it and loved the output. I also have the wide angle (50mm) and short telephoto (150mm) lenses. So are there people still using these cameras, and what for? Where would I get film for it if I wanted to try it out? (located in Canada). I've only been moderately interested in photography in the past 2 years and my experience is only with small mirrorless system cameras. i don't have much knowledge of how it works or what it's capabilities are.
